So every few seconds you must reactivate the progress bar to keep it scanning. If you leave the progress bar page for any reason the scan stops. On a MAC it stops scanning if the cursor is not kept active over the progress bar. Unfortunately that does not seem to be the case. I had read there were issues using it with a MAC, but that patches were available that fix the issues. Film holder can easily scratch the platen from multiple uses. Low Reviewers were correct: Flimsy film holders and only two types. These same issues seem to be on the more expensive models as well.
When it works, it does a decent job at a reasonable price, but with the problems detailed below, it is a much longer process than it should be. Works but with issues poor tech support available I bought this scanner with high hopes after reading many positive reviews.īe sure to read the negative reviews and take to heart. Also, note image size can get quite large (one 4圆 photo at 600dpi is about 1Mb, but move to 1200dpi and it'll take a LOT longer to scan and produce an image 5-7Mb). Note: Scanning photos at 1200dpi and above or negatives at 600dpi or higher, will take some patience due to the scan times (can be up to 1 minute or higher per item) use of ICE can be easily 7 minutes per photo and higher.

I have not used the Photo Studio 6 software yet, so cannot express any opinion on it.
I have a bit more testing to do before I start our scanning and storage project of 30+ years of pictures/ negatives (many 1000's), but am happy with the quality of the scans and the versatility of various settings within the respective modes. I have experimented enough and read enough other user comments to feel that the Home setting will likely be my go-to mode as the Auto mode does not seem to auto-recognise the separation between the different photos when( scanning 2 or 3 at a time and did not seem to scan the negatives at all and kept producing an image of the film holder only.
